Number of Zombie Businesses In Decline

A recent survey carried out for R3 (The Association of Business Recovery Professionals) has indicated that the number of “zombie businesses” (basically those able to pay only the interest on their debts) has fallen from a high of 160,000 in November 2012 to 103,000. However this is still equivalent to 6% of UK businesses with a turnover in excess of £50,000.
However the research also shows that 166,000 businesses are having to negotiate payment terms with their creditors, whilst 96,000 say they would be unable to pay their debts if there was a small increase in interest rates.
